I have often wondered: what if the magnificent Michael Jordan never had the chance to play basketball? Then a second question logically follows: how many other MJs has the world missed out on because they were never exposed to basketball?
Let's start with the premise that human development ultimately means expanding people's choices - that is, allowing people to be creative in the authoring of their lives.
Sports development then, is an extension of that idea - it means giving young people access to more sporting options so they can play what they enjoy and/or what they excel at.
When a person is able to do what they like, the result is an enrichment of that individual's life. And when they are able to do what they are good at, the by-product is excellence - a benefit to all humanity.
